At a summit in 2011 (Vibrant Cities & Urban Forests), 25 visionary leaders from multiple sectors put forth a set of integrated and collaborative recommendations framing urban forestry as a solution to many urban issues and inspiring communities across America to action.

Ignite
In 2012, the Sustainable Urban Forests Coalition (SUFC) accepted a challenge to ignite action around the recommendations. A national, multi-disciplinary network of green community advocates, SUFC members and stakeholders rallied behind the initiative to move it forward.

Unite
Looking to 2013, SUFC members will work collaboratively to bolster and unite ongoing urban forestry efforts. We will also empower communities of all sizes to fully realize the benefits of “greener” and healthier neighborhoods under the banner of Vibrant Communities: Trees Are the Key.
